Unison’s Seniors Support Department helps seniors navigate complex administrative processes with ease. We provide assistance in Financial Benefits & Pensions, Housing Applications, and Tax Filing.
We Assist in:

- Housing Applications: Guiding seniors through subsidized and senior-specific housing options for safe, affordable living.
- Tax Filing: Offering services tailored to low-income seniors to maximize deductions and credits.

What We Offer
Housing Help
Seniors Supports offers personalized consultation on senior housing in the Calgary region, tailored to the diverse needs of our clients. We provide a comprehensive checklist of required documents and forms, assisting clients in completing their housing applications online on the YYC Housing Portal.
Housing Conversations: Housing for seniors, hosted on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 10am to 11am at the Kerby Café. Discuss the process for finding affordable housing and get answers to questions that you might have in a relaxed atmosphere! FREE – Registration not required.
Unison Free Tax Clinic
Service Canada staff will assist seniors 65+ to enroll for CDCP (Canada Dental Care Plan), if eligible, at Unison Kerby Centre from 9 am - 12 pm on: June 10 and June 24.
CRA staff will assist seniors with answering queries about benefits and credits, printing tax slips, notice of assessment at Unison Kerby Centre, from 9am to 3pm on: May 26, June 9 and June 23.

Federal - Canada Pension Plan (CPP) / Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPPD), Old Age Security, Guaranteed Income Supplement, Income estimates, Death Benefit, Survivor’s Pension. - Provincial – Alberta Seniors Benefit (ASB), Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Special Needs Assistance, Optical/Dental Benefits, SHARP, Blue Cross.
- Local - Fair Entry Applications, Access Calgary.
Unison Year-Round FREE Tax Support
Unison offers free, year-round tax filing support for eligible seniors and AISH/Income support clients.
Who qualifies: Seniors aged 55+ or AISH recipients with an annual income of $40,000 or less for individuals, or $60,000 or less for couples.
Please note: We are unable to prepare tax returns that include self-employment income, business or rental income, capital gains or losses, or bankruptcy.

Canadian Accreditation Council of Human Services
