Food is one of the most important and vital needs to be met in our communities. Unison’s Thrive program aims to combat hunger through a variety of projects and initiatives. 

Unison Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels delivers a hot, nutritious meal to anyone who is unable to make meals on their own due to such issues as; age-related illness, capacity or mobility loss, disability, recovery from surgery or to alleviate caregiver stress.

Unison at Veiner Centre operates Meals on Wheels in Medicine Hat

Unison Community Pantry 

A community food pantry for older adults that stocks non-perishable food items as donated by local vendors and supported by Root Cellar, Second Harvest and Food Banks Alberta. The pantry is located in Veiner Centre and is available at no cost to qualifying clients.

Unison Community Kitchens

A program to engage older adults from the community of Medicine Hat to make meals in a group setting. This provides opportunities for socialization, reduction of isolation, skill-building and increasing food security for participants.

Unison Wellness Markets

This program re-allocates donations of bread, baked goods and other food items that are donated by individuals or organizations in the community. Older adults regardless of income are eligible to access the market on location at Veiner Centre. This program is supported by Root Cellar and Food Banks Alberta.
