On Saturday April 26, we welcomed around 2,000 visitors at the Unison Kerby Centre for the 31st annual Seniors' Expo. This trade-show style event has been taking place for over three decades. This year, our vendor tables were sold out, hitting over 70 exhibitors. I know that's a lot of numbers, but it's an impressive tally!
The crowds were thick, making it tricky to walk sometimes, but the treats and free stuff vendors had on offer made it worth the wait to navigate three floors of spectacular sights. Our biggest sponsors, Silvera for Seniors and Ears to You joined in the fun by offering top-notch free swag, and the chance to win prizes. The Kerby Sensations even performed in the Kerby Café, playing their swinging smooth sounds while, we hope, people enjoyed the special Seniors' Expo menu (all I saw was cheeseburgers with fries - yum! I know other lip-smacking meals were also available. What can I say? I'm blinded by the fries!).
What we hope for after every Seniors' Expo, is that our visitors found something that will help them in their day-to-day lives. We put this show on free of charge, because we care about our community. We reach out in partnership to local businesses to give them the chance to drum up business, but the true aim is to provide support and care for older adults.
Did you attend the Expo? We would love to hear from you! What did you like most? Is there anything we could have done better? What was your favourite piece of swag? Let us know! marketing@unisonalberta.com
